007 First Light Finally Dated for Switch 2: March 18, 2027

Nintendo Switch 2 owners finally have a date for 007 First Light. IO Interactive says the Switch 2 version of its James Bond origin story will launch on March 18, 2027, and pre-orders are open now, as reported by Gematsu.

That lands almost exactly a year after the game was first meant to come out on every platform.

A long road to Switch 2

007 First Light was originally scheduled for March 27, 2026, before IO pushed it to May 27, when it launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Switch 2 version was split off and delayed to the third quarter of 2026, then pushed again in September to an unspecified date in March 2027, which RCG covered in 007 First Light Switch 2 Delayed Again. This week’s announcement locks in the exact day.

Last month, technical producer Cristina Vega said the third delay was not caused by unexpected problems. “The development team had been pushing hard for a long time and needed a brief breather,” she explained, adding that the studio wanted fans “to experience the game in its most polished form on Switch 2.”

What’s in the Switch 2 edition

According to Video Games Chronicle, IO has so far listed only a Deluxe Edition for Switch 2, priced at $69.99, €69.99 or £69.99. It includes the Gleaming Lighter, Gleaming Earphones, Gleaming Dart Gun and Gleaming Pen gadgets, plus four extra outfits: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Silent Anchor and Gentleman Operator. Pre-ordering also grants early access to a GoldenEye suit.

The game follows a young James Bond, a Naval air crewman recruited into a revived Double-O program, who teams up with his reluctant mentor Greenway to uncover a conspiracy after a mission goes wrong. Players can approach missions loud or quiet, using gadgets, disguises, fists or firearms.

The wait has not hurt the game’s reputation. 007 First Light is among the most-nominated games at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards, and the PS5, Xbox and PC versions have already picked up free content updates. Switch 2 players now have just over five months to wait.
