Capcom just put hard dates on a big Switch 2 Capcom wave: Monster Hunter Wilds lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026, and three Resident Evil remake packages follow digitally weeks earlier.
In a September 10, 2026 investor/press release, Capcom Co., Ltd. said it will release Monster Hunter Wilds, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 as part of its multi-platform push.
Monster Hunter Wilds — Dec. 4, 2026 on Switch 2
Wilds is Capcom’s current-generation hunting action entry, which originally shipped on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 28, 2025. Capcom’s IR note frames it as the first Monster Hunter title with cross-play, and says the Switch 2 version is meant to widen that audience further.
The same release also confirms Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance — described as a massive expansion — will have a Nintendo Switch 2 version scheduled for 2027 (no specific calendar day in the IR table).
Nintendo Life’s Direct write-up (Liam Doolan, Sept. 10) adds Switch 2-facing detail Capcom’s IR product table does not itemize: the Switch 2 build is said to include all title updates, local multiplayer for up to four hunters, and full cross-platform play, plus a Prologue Demo before launch. Treat those as Direct/secondary reporting layered on Capcoms dated IR announcement — Capcom’s English IR page is the primary date source for Dec. 4 / Ascendance 2027.
Resident Evil remakes — digital Oct. 16, physical Jan. 29, 2027
Alongside the hunt date, Capcom scheduled three survival-horror remakes for Switch 2:
| Title | Digital | Physical |
| Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition | October 16, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
| Resident Evil 3 | October 16, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
| Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition | October 16, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
Capcom’s release specifically calls out expanding the install base for major titles such as Resident Evil 2 — citing more than 20 million units in cumulative worldwide sales for that remake — by bringing them to new platforms.
Why Capcom is stacking Switch 2
The IR framing is straightforward corporate strategy: keep releasing major Capcom titles across platforms to grow the user base, maximize unit sales, and lift brand value over the medium-to-long term. Series context in the same note: Monster Hunter series cumulative sales exceeding 131 million units, and Resident Evil game sales exceeding 213 million units, both as of June 30, 2026.
For Switch 2 owners, the near-term calendar is clean: RE remake trio digital on Oct. 16, 2026, physical editions Jan. 29, 2027, then Monster Hunter Wilds on Dec. 4, 2026, with Ascendance on Switch 2 sometime in 2027.
As-of: evening September 15, 2026 (~5:15 PM CDT, America/Chicago). Release dates and product names verified against Capcom’s Sept. 10, 2026 English IR press release. Local/cross-play / demo / pre-order pricing detail attributed to Nintendo Life’s Sept. 10 Direct coverage where Capcom IR is silent.
