TAITO and western publisher Clear River Games unveiled Lufia I & II: The Sinistrals Saga during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct on September 20, 2026 — a dual remaster packing the classic SNES JRPGs Lufia & the Fortress of Doom and Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2027.
What’s in the collection
Per the Steam page and Gematsu’s same-day writeup, the set is framed as two of the “fondest remembered JRPGs of the 1990s,” “ported lovingly and enhanced for modern play.” Fortress of Doom follows a legendary hero’s descendant and a young woman under destiny’s weight; Rise of the Sinistrals is the Maxim-led prequel that cemented the series’ cult status. Soft context: the series is known as Estpolis in Japan, and Clear River is also bringing Terranigma to modern platforms in 2027 (RPGFan).
Platforms + timing
2027 launch window only — no month or day yet. Platforms confirmed by Gematsu: PS5, Switch 2, Switch, and Steam. Steam wishlist is live (app 4027620). Soft: RPGFan notes CRT scanlines appear in the trailer but whether that is an in-game filter or trailer polish remains unconfirmed — do not invent a QoL checklist.
Why it matters
This is the first official modern multiplat return for the SNES duo, including a first-time official PC release of the pair. For RCG readers who lived through the mid-’90s SNES RPG boom — or missed it entirely — Sinistrals Saga is the cleanest remaster pitch the series has gotten since the 2010 Curse of the Sinistrals remake of II.
As-of: 2026-09-20 evening ~5:30 PM CT (America/Chicago). Announce, 2027 window, PS5/Switch 2/Switch/Steam platforms, Clear River west, and ported/enhanced framing verified against Gematsu + Steam + RPGFan. No invented 2027 day or feature list.
