Brian Michael Bendis is coming home to Jessica Jones. Marvel Comics will launch Jessica Jones: Alias, a five-issue series by Bendis and original Alias artist Michael Gaydos, on December 23, 2026, with covers by David Mack, Bleeding Cool reports, citing an Entertainment Weekly interview. The street date doubles as a 25th-anniversary moment for Jessica’s debut in Alias #1 (2001).
Reunion, not a reboot
Bendis tells EW the book has always felt personal — as the creators grew up, so did Jessica — and that every return has been a statement on where they are as creators as much as where she is in the story. He frames Jessica Jones: Alias as one of the “special projects” that brought him back to Marvel after eight years at DC, alongside work already seen on Avengers #800, the Spider-Man/Superman crossover, and the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man #1000. An earlier 2026 anniversary one-shot, Alias: Red Band by Sam Humphries and Geraldo Borges, already landed this year; the new series is a separate five-issue run.
“She is a very different Jessica Jones than the hot mess we introduced 25 years ago in the very first issue,” Bendis notes. Jessica is now a mother and working PI. Luke Cage is no longer New York’s mayor — he’s a member of the post-Armageddon Avengers — so Jessica is no longer the city’s first lady.
Missing child, Latveria, Savage Land
The story kicks off when Jessica is hired to find a missing powered child she suspects is a mutant. Bendis says the case immediately rips her life apart, with confirmed destinations including Latveria in its current status quo and the Savage Land — “a perfect place where a leather jacket is completely inappropriate,” he teases. Editor Alanna Smith suggested the Jessica Jones: Alias title over Bendis’s working placeholder Jessica Jones Reunion.
Bendis also confirms additional Marvel projects are in motion, including one with five issues already drawn. Stay tuned for more on those — this package is the December 23 Alias reunion.
