Build A Rocket Boy, the studio behind MindsEye, has entered UK administration. Secondary English-language reports citing GamesIndustry.biz say the company has appointed Opus Advisory Group as administrators as it works through insolvency proceedings, GamingBolt and PlayStation Universe reported on September 25.
Losses and creditors
For the 12-month period ending September 30, 2025, coverage of the studio’s financials cites a £47.5 million operating loss, a £36.2 million net loss, and £61.8 million owed to creditors. Administration filings indicate Build A Rocket Boy cannot currently repay that debt and is seeking protection from potential legal action by creditors.
MindsEye context and recent cuts
MindsEye launched in June 2025 on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S to a rough critical and commercial reception. Founder Leslie Benzies (ex–Rockstar North) had previously overseen post-launch updates and a mid-2025 redundancy wave. Reports say a further round of staff departures hit in September 2026, days before the administration filing, after earlier pressure including an ended publishing collaboration with IO Interactive.
What’s next remains open
Administration is a UK insolvency process aimed at protecting the company while administrators assess options — it is not, by itself, a confirmed liquidation. Coverage has not named a buyer, and related Build A Rocket Boy entities remain a separate question from this filing. Worker-culture criticism and prior union/legal disputes around layoffs have been part of the studio’s public story this year; those are background to the insolvency wire, not a verdict on the administration outcome.
