Valor Mortis launches October 13, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for $39.99 (€39.99), day one on Xbox Game Pass. Publisher Lyrical Games today posted a Gameplay Overview trailer for the first-person Soulslike from One More Level — the Kraków studio behind Ghostrunner — walking through combat, weapons, and builds ahead of street date, according to a September 30, 2026 Games Press release.
A Deluxe Edition is priced at $59.99 (€59.99) and includes a major story DLC planned for next year plus cosmetic packs that roll out between now and then. Lyrical also says multiple free post-launch updates are planned.
Jennifer English, James Alexander, and Vincent Cassel
The trailer is narrated by James Alexander as protagonist William Dowsett. It follows Monday’s cast reveal, which locked Jennifer English as The Shrike and Alexander as Dowsett alongside César Award winner Vincent Cassel as Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
William is framed as a young Englishman who volunteered for Napoleon’s cause and wakes on a grim battlefield with fractured memory; Napoleon’s voice sits in his head, and The Shrike later joins that inner chorus as a rebel force in occupied Eastern Europe.
Combat, Transmutations, Catalysts, and Ambers
Alexander’s walkthrough covers stamina management, light and heavy attacks, parrying, and counterattacks. Featured weapons include the Claymore — a slow two-handed blade with high impact — and the Musket, a two-handed firearm with more range and power than William’s pistol. Matching weapon to enemy is pitched as a core combat reward.
Transmutations sit in the left hand for buffs, debuffs, damage, and traversal. The release calls out Fire (burn), Shield (absorb then shockwave), and Grapple (environment points). Catalysts are the upgrade currency spent at Lanterns for health, stamina, and parry, and they drop where William dies. Ambers, found in the world and equipped at Lanterns as he levels, personalize the build.
Valor Mortis is One More Level’s first wholly owned IP. For another day-one Xbox Game Pass launch already on RCG, see Shape of Dreams on Xbox Game Pass.
