MW4 Server Culling Targets Wallhack Cheats

PlayStation

Activision’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat is adding Server Culling for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a map-level visibility system meant to blunt wallhacks by withholding hidden opponents’ position data from a player’s client, according to the official Call of Duty announcement quoted by Destructoid (October 2, 2026). Modern Warfare 4 still launches worldwide on Thursday, October 23, 2026.

Activision’s explanation is straightforward: traditional multiplayer design sends location data to each player’s hardware so the match can run, and wallhack software abuses that stream. Server Culling weaves a custom visibility / occlusion system into each map so opponents you should not be able to see never have their positions delivered — “the cheat software can’t reveal information it never receives,” as related coverage summarizes the COD video. The feature is pitched as working alongside other RICOCHET layers and as invisible to legitimate players.

Scope called out in the announcement and mirrored by Worthplaying and Dexerto: every MW4 launch map, plus DMZ and Combat Outpost, with Season 1 and later live-season maps covered across multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone. That is product messaging from Activision, not an independent audit promising zero wallhacks on day one.

For US audiences already tracking the Oct. 23 street — including RCG’s earlier Modern Warfare 4 TGS campaign trailer and Oct. 23 launch coverage — Server Culling is the clearest anti-cheat product beat of the week. It sits beside Activision’s recent public pressure on cheat vendors, but today’s story is the technical occlusion claim, not a courtroom recap.

Platforms for MW4 remain current-gen focused in Activision’s broader materials (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, with Switch 2 called out separately in other MW4 briefings). This Server Culling note does not invent cross-gen support or change the Oct. 23 date.

What we are not saying: we are not guaranteeing wallhacks will vanish, inventing ban statistics, or moving the Oct. 23 launch. Report Server Culling as RICOCHET’s new visibility withhold for MW4 launch maps, DMZ, Combat Outpost, and Season 1+.
