AHOY Brings Back The Wrong Earth in an April 2027 One-Shot

AHOY Comics is going back to where it started. At New York Comic Con, the indie publisher announced three new titles for 2027, led by Absolutely The Wrong Earth, a new one-shot from writer Tom Peyer and artist Jamal Igle, as The Beat reports.

The Wrong Earth was AHOY’s very first title. It follows two versions of the same hero on parallel worlds, the bright and campy Dragonflyman of Earth-Alpha and the dark and gritty Dragonfly of Earth-Omega, who swap places and eventually team up. The idea has spun off several sequels and one-shots since. The new 40-page book adds yet another world to the multiverse and promises “the final version of your favorite superhero on the wrongest earth,” a bulkier take on Dragonflyman. It arrives in stores on April 7.

Two more books come first. Kindergarten Gulag reunites writer Mark Russell and artist Mauricet, the team behind AHOY’s one-shot Thanksgiving. It follows Igby, a man who wakes up as the only inmate in a prison run by five very young, very creepy children who are arguing about whether to kill him. AHOY calls it “a disturbing meditation on the innocent things that can hurt us most.” It lands on January 27, 2027.

Corduroy Road is a new supernatural crime series from writer Eric Palicki and artist Christopher Peterson, with an Erica Henderson cover on issue #1. Set in Chicago, it follows Paul Corduroy, a private investigator and monster killer looking into the gruesome murders of the Suydam family. AHOY pitches it in the tradition of Hack/Slash and Something Is Killing the Children. Issue #1 is due January 6, and Palicki has a limited ashcan edition at NYCC.

AHOY also teased Dragonproof, an 80-page fantasy graphic novel by Palicki and artist Giulia Lalli that it plans to crowdfund on Kickstarter. It follows Ashleigh Cole, who finds a dying dragon covered in bullet wounds and U.S. military markings, then starts showing dragon-like traits of her own.

Spring 2027 is shaping up to be a good season for offbeat superheroes from indie publishers. Oni Press has one coming too: Citizen: Stardust takes on Fletcher Hanks’ Golden Age hero in April 2027.
