Bendis and Sorrentino’s Magneto: End of Days Leads Marvel

Comics

Brian Michael Bendis is going big for his first major Marvel project since his return. At the House of Ideas panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, Marvel revealed Magneto: End of Days, an eight-issue prestige limited series from Bendis and artist Andrea Sorrentino, with colors by Dave Stewart. It launches in February 2027.

The series moves between a near future where Magneto’s choices play out in surprising ways and new looks at pivotal eras of his past. Its description opens, “From the near future where the choices Magneto made…” Covers come from Sorrentino, Alex Maleev, Jerome Opeña and Netho Diaz, according to The Beat.

Hulk War: Infernal Rage

Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein are teaming up on Hulk War: Infernal Rage, a five-issue event that also starts in February 2027. Johnson described it as the third act of his Hulk run.

Immortal Soldiers #1

Chip Zdarsky and Christian Rosado are behind Immortal Soldiers #1, a one-shot due in January 2027. It picks up after the events of Avengers: Armageddon.

X-Orcists goes ongoing

Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta’s X-Orcists is now an ongoing series. Elsa Bloodstone joins the team in issue #3 in January, with a cover by Ben Harvey.

What The–?! returns

Marvel’s humor anthology is back with a one-shot in January 2027, priced at $4.99. Contributors include Ryan Stegman, Cody Ziglar, Jordan Morris, Daniel Kibblesmith, Eric Glover, Annie Wu and Manix, and the credits also list “Not Chip Zdarsky.” Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani contributes a story too, according to AIPT.

Magneto: End of Days is the headline here. Bendis has a long history with the X-Men and with Maleev, and pairing him with Sorrentino on a prestige-format book signals that Marvel is treating this as a major release. Hulk War: Infernal Rage, meanwhile, is the next big step for Johnson’s Hulk saga.

That story has been building for a while. RCG covered the road to Hulk War when Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine #1 opened in September.

With Magneto and Hulk War both landing in February, the start of 2027 is shaping up to be a heavy month for Marvel readers.
