The Vixens are riding back into Riverdale. Archie Comics is bringing back the all-girl biker gang in Josie and the Pussycats: Rock On!, a new one-shot arriving November 11, AIPT revealed in an exclusive announcement.
Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge formed the motorcycle crew in the 2017 series Betty & Veronica: Vixens. Nearly a decade later, the gang returns with a twist. This is the first time the Vixens will appear in a classic-style Archie comic, with artist Holly G bringing them into the publisher’s familiar all-ages look. Original Vixens creator Jamie L. Rotante is back to write it.
Trouble at GIRLZ ROCK
The 32-page special centers on Riverdale’s first-ever GIRLZ ROCK festival at Pickens Park, where Josie and the Pussycats are set to headline. Betty, Veronica and Jola Kitt are joining in with their own power trio, Rock Candi.
Things go sideways when some troublemakers from Jola’s old hometown crash the festival. Even the event’s new head of security, Kip Burland, better known as the Black Hood, gets overwhelmed. That’s when Betty and Veronica call in some old friends, and the Vixens roll in to save the show.
The one-shot reunites a veteran Archie team. Holly G pencils, Bob Smith inks, Glenn Whitmore colors and Jack Morelli letters. Dan Parent draws the main cover, while Matt Talbot and Veronica Fish provide Black Hood and Vixens variants. All three covers will also be offered as foil editions, and Black Hood fans get a variant of their own with Talbot’s cover spotlighting the hero who ends up in over his head at the festival.
It is a fun bit of crossover housekeeping, pulling a modern Archie idea into the classic house style that longtime readers grew up on. For more on licensed and legacy favorites getting new comics, see RCG’s report on Buffy and Angel comics returning in March 2027.
