Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is slowing down. In an October 2026 producer letter posted on Pokémon.com on Oct. 15, the game’s operations team said new booster packs will move from roughly every four weeks to roughly every six weeks once a new series kicks off at the end of October.

The team said the change is a response to player feedback. “We have received feedback that the large number of cards being released in each pack up to B series has made collecting difficult,” the letter reads. The longer cycle, it says, is meant to “make it possible for even more players to enjoy building collections at their own pace.” Kotaku and Polygon both refer to the upcoming set of releases as the C series.

To fill the extra time between packs, the team plans to expand the events and missions tied to collecting and battling. The new series will also bring dual-type Pokémon to the game for the first time.

New ways to collect

Immersive cards, which feature animated artwork, will also be offered as mission rewards for completing collections. Those mission cards will be different from the immersive cards found in the new series’ packs.

A new Special Pack: First Partners will feature special cards of the first partner Pokémon from each of the nine regions the main Pokémon games have visited so far. Special packs are separate from regular booster packs and use their own special pack stamina, which recovers once a week.

The team also plans event missions that award ★1 promo cards with illustrations in a shared theme. Missions will be added each week for three weeks, and finishing each set unlocks one of three illustrated promo cards.

Battling, trading and sharing

A new Community Decks feature will let players browse player-made decks in the game, including popular decks and friends’ decks, and copy them using their own cards. Rental decks are getting looser rules as well. Starting with the new series, they’ll be available as soon as new booster packs release, they’ll have unlimited uses, and they can be used in versus battles. Kotaku notes that rental decks were previously capped at 10 uses.

Limited Battle events, which restrict which cards are eligible, will run a set period after each booster pack’s release. Rewards based on wins include battle accessories and promo packs.

On the trading side, the team plans a feature that shows cards of any rarity missing from a trade partner’s card dex, along with a way to see which cards are on a share partner’s wishlist.

The physical card game is on its own track, with Mega Evolution—Delta Reign prereleases starting Oct. 24.

The letter says more features will arrive alongside each booster pack in the new series, and it notes that everything described is still in development, so the contents and timing could change. The game launched on Oct. 30, 2024, on iOS and Android, which puts the new series right around its second anniversary.
