Look Outside, the survival horror RPG that turned a single apartment building into one of last year’s strangest indie hits, is coming to consoles just in time for Halloween. Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Francis Coulombe will release it on PS5, Switch 2, PS4 and Switch on Oct. 30, Gematsu reports.
The game first launched on PC through Steam on March 21, 2025. Its setup is simple and nasty: a mysterious event turns anyone who looks out a window into a grotesque monster, and the world outside falls into chaos. You never leave your building. Instead, you scavenge its floors for food, supplies and weapons, meet neighbors who may or may not still be human, and try to figure out what happened.
Combat is turn-based but accounts for the space between you and your enemies, and you fight with makeshift weapons and whatever you can find in the hallways. There are more than 150 hand-crafted creatures to face, a dozen boss encounters, and a home base to return to, where you can cook dinner, craft tools, play games to recover and get to know the allies you’ve taken in.
Devolver pitches it as “small, experimental, and unwaveringly weird,” with 10 to 12 hours of playtime and several different endings depending on who you help and who you let through your door. Its body-horror style is a big part of the appeal, so it is very much not a game for the squeamish.
The console versions arrive a little over a week after the announcement, making this one of the quicker turnarounds of the season. Devolver has been busy on PC as well, with Serious Sam: The Third Encounter also on its slate.
If you missed Look Outside the first time, Oct. 30 lands right before Halloween weekend, which is fitting for a game built around the fear of a single glance out the window.
