Fallout 76 has passed 25 million players. Bethesda marked the milestone on Oct. 23 as part of its Fallout Day celebrations, and used the week to show off the game’s next big free update. The Fallout Day 2026 roundup confirms World Pets arrives Dec. 1.

World Pets does exactly what longtime players have asked for: it lets the pets you already keep at your C.A.M.P. step outside and travel with you. That includes dogs, cats, Radhogs and even domesticated Deathclaws, and you can tell them to stay, follow or attack. Creative director Jon Rush and production director Bill LaCoste walk through the update in the overview video below.

Each type brings its own perks. Dogs can sniff out medical supplies during combat, cats can turn up better fishing bait, Radhogs collect radioactive materials that ghoul characters can use, and Deathclaws can earn you an extra legendary weapon after clearing an Infestation.

Pets also level up as they adventure with you, unlocking stronger buffs along the way, and you can dress them up with collars, bandanas and armor. In the overview video, the team calls World Pets the 72nd free update for Fallout 76.

The update also brings a refreshed Skyline Valley region to explore and adds bounty hunting, with a character named Marshall Kanne handing out bounties at the trading post. Bethesda also launched a dedicated @PlayFallout76 social account during the week for news and giveaways.

Fallout Day had more for the wider series, too: Fallout 4 got two new Creations, a Baby Deathclaw is coming to Fallout Shelter as an adoptable pet, and Bethesda says next year’s Fallout Day will be celebrated live in Washington, D.C., for the first time. Bethesda is part of Xbox, which has been reshaping how players pay for games this fall, including tests of cloud playtime without Game Pass. For Fallout 76 fans, the date to remember is Dec. 1.
