Xbox Insiders can start testing an updated Xbox PC app today, Nov. 5, 2026. It is not a universal PC launch yet. In an Xbox Wire post, Xbox Experiences VP Jason Beaumont says the Insider build launches up to 60% faster and is meant to make finding games, reaching friends, and jumping into play simpler on PC, with related web and cloud interface updates rolling out more widely over the coming weeks.
Microsoft’s speed claims come from its own internal tests. The company says the refreshed app launches up to 60% faster, pages such as Home, Store, and Game Pass load up to 50% faster, and in-app windows open up to 65% faster. Those figures are Microsoft’s benchmarks, not independent lab results, and Xbox Wire notes that results can vary by device, internet connection, system configuration, usage, and other factors.
What changes in the Xbox PC app
Beyond the claimed speed bump, Xbox says the Insider PC app gets everyday UI work aimed at browsing and social play:
- An easier Library with simpler navigation, updated filters, and new ways to organize installed and owned games
- Friends and social features moved into the main navigation so it is quicker to see what friends are playing, start a chat, or join a party
- Broader search that looks across more of Xbox from one place, including installed titles, add-ons, and people
- A cleaner look with refreshed game cards, Home, Settings, and animations
Web and cloud follow the PC Insider build
Xbox says it also began inviting Insiders earlier this year to preview a refreshed Xbox cloud gaming web experience, and that over the next few weeks it will bring that interface to more players automatically. Players who want it sooner can head to play.xbox.com. The updated web library puts cloud-playable titles in one place whether they are owned or available through Xbox Game Pass, with sort and filter options, a desktop mode for larger screens, and dark, light, and high-contrast themes.
The same refreshed look and navigation is starting to reach Xbox cloud gaming apps on supported TVs and VR headsets. Xbox frames the work as making the basics feel familiar wherever someone plays: finding games, knowing what is available, and getting into a title quickly. That cloud surface sits alongside other recent Xbox streaming experiments, including the cloud playtime packs Insiders could buy without Game Pass.
Xbox is asking Insiders for feedback through Player Voice and the Xbox Insider community. Anyone not already in the program can join through the Xbox Insider Hub on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Windows PC. There is no public date yet for when the faster PC app leaves Insider rings for every Windows Xbox PC user.
