Summer Game Fest 2026 kicked off the summer announcement season with a two-hour live showcase from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, packed with world premieres, surprise sequels, and long‑rumored remakes. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the show highlighted more than 50 games and updates across console, PC, and mobile, with several titles finally locking in release windows for 2026 and 2027.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation closes the remake trilogy

Square Enix officially unveiled Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final entry in the FF7 remake saga. The new trailer teases the climactic showdown between Cloud, his allies, and Sephiroth, with the game launching across all major platforms in spring 2027.

Resident Evil Veronica brings Code: Veronica back in 2027

Capcom confirmed that the long‑requested remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica is real, now simply titled Resident Evil Veronica. The reveal trailer focuses on Claire Redfield and confirms a 2027 release window for PC and current‑gen consoles.

Alien Isolation 2 finally emerges

Creative Assembly and Sega returned to survival horror with Alien Isolation 2, set on a new space station with a fresh cast. The footage shows a familiar slow‑burn tension and stalking xenomorph encounters, but no specific release date has been announced yet.

New Cuphead projects from Studio MDHR

Studio MDHR used the stage to announce Mighty Cuphead Adventure along with a second hand‑animated Cuphead follow‑up currently in development. Both projects retain the signature 1930s cartoon aesthetic, but remain early enough that no firm dates were provided.


Big new games and sequels

Gen Atlas – Fumito Ueda’s next project

Fumito Ueda (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian) finally revealed his new game, Gen Atlas, a sci‑fi adventure from GenDesign for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.  The debut trailer showcased towering structures, minimal UI, and a moody, lonely tone, but stopped short of giving a release window. 

Stranger Than Heaven – open‑world crime drama

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio premiered Stranger Than Heaven, an expansive open‑world title with celebrity cameos and the studio’s signature blend of melodrama and absurdity. The game is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, on modern platforms.

Control Resonant – Remedy’s cosmic horror follow‑up

Remedy shared a new look at Control Resonant, showing more of its surreal environments and reality‑bending combat. The showcase confirmed a 2026 release window and positioned the game as a more overt dive into cosmic horror themes.

Guild Wars 3 – next‑gen MMO

ArenaNet officially announced Guild Wars 3, described as the “next evolution” of the long‑running MMORPG series. The title is in development for PC and PlayStation 5, with beta testing planned for fall 2027.

Gundam Rogue Orbit

Bandai Namco revealed Gundam Rogue Orbit, a new mech action title that leans into fast movement and heavy metal‑backed combat. It is expected to launch in 2027 on PC and current‑gen consoles.


Licensed, horror, and adaptation highlights

TMNT: The Last Ronin

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin resurfaced with confirmation that PlatinumGames is now handling development. The new trailer emphasized stylish action and a darker tone pulled straight from the comic storyline.

Attack on Titan 3

Attack on Titan 3 was confirmed as the concluding entry in the action game series, covering the story from early Survey Corps missions to the finale. Platforms include PlayStation, Xbox Serieries X|S, and Nintendo Switch’s successor, though no launch date was announced. 

Saw: Genesis

Bloober Team announced Saw: Genesis, an asymmetric multiplayer horror game featuring elaborate traps and co‑developed with Anshar Studios and Broken Mirror Games. The reveal focused on small‑team matches where players either try to survive Jigsaw‑style setups or engineer the traps themselves.


Expansions, DLC, and “next chapters”

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance

Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a large‑scale expansion slated for 2027. The trailer teased new monsters, expanded biomes, and more traversal options for hunters.

Street Fighter 6 – Year 4 DLC

Street Fighter 6 Year 4 content was detailed, headlined by the addition of Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 as a guest character. Year 4 also brings newcomers Arjun, Bosch, and Yasmine, with the DLC rollout stretching from August 2026 into early 2027.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain

Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, a follow‑up that continues the series beyond the first game and introduces a new protagonist named Evie. The footage highlighted faster combat and new environments, with more details promised later in the year.


Racing and action standouts

Clutch

Maverick Games, formed by former Forza Horizon developers, showcased Clutch, an open‑world racing game with a heavier narrative focus. Clutch is targeting a spring 2027 release, with the trailer emphasizing cinematic camera work and large, open road networks.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush

Mattel and Milestone announced Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, an open‑world Hot Wheels racer evolving the formula from Hot Wheels Unleashed. The debut trailer showed large stunt‑filled environments and confirmed a 2026 launch.

Star Wars: Zero Company

Bit Reactor brought a fresh look at Star Wars: Zero Company, a tactical Star Wars game that now has an August 27 launch date. The trailer featured squad‑based combat, cover mechanics, and a surprise appearance by Anakin Skywalker.

Summer Game Fest 2026 also featured a new single‑player Crossfire project from That’s No Moon, historical action‑adventure 1666 Amsterdam from Patrice Désilets’ studio, and Haex, an open‑world shooter slated for 2027.
