Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Still Later This Year

Xbox

Playground Games used its official Forza Horizon 6 British Automotive Series 5 post on Forza.net to keep the PlayStation 5 plan in plain English. Near the end of the update write-up, the studio says: if you’re planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned — Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and players can wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store for availability alerts. That is first-party site language. It does not lock a street day, and this draft does not invent one.

The same Forza.net post is also the clock source for the live-service beat, and the clocks should not be flattened into a single “Sep 10 update” shorthand. The series update itself is downloadable starting Monday, September 7, at 1:00 p.m. EDT (5:00 p.m. UTC) on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on PC, and Steam — ahead of the Festival Playlist. The British Automotive Festival Playlist then starts Thursday, September 10, at 10:30 a.m. EDT (2:30 p.m. UTC). Download window first; playlist start second.

The permanent gameplay hook in the package is Drift Attack, described as a new permanent race type rather than a limited-time mode. Playground frames it as combining Drift Zones-style freedom with Horizon Drift intensity: drive to the Shimanoyama Circuit Drift Attack icon, roll through the gantry like Time Attack, and chase drift points on a lap with clipping zones that boost scoring. It plugs into the Festival Campaign once you have the Yellow Wristband, and completion can unlock Drift Attack gear plus a 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition purpose-built for sliding. A stock XJ-S is also listed as permanently added to the Autoshow.

British Automotive’s Festival Playlist celebrates UK metal with new-to-Horizon Series rewards such as the 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed, 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior, and 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR, plus Car Pass arrivals led by the 2025 McLaren W1. There is also a British Automotive Takeover near the Horizon Stadium Aftermarket, clothing, a Lionheart player badge, and the Drift Tire mascot collectible in Shimanoyama. Separately, Xbox’s living-room app push on select TCL smart TVs keeps the broader Xbox ecosystem story in view while FH6’s Japan festival keeps rolling on Xbox and PC.

Secondary coverage from VGC packages the same Forza.net PS5 line against Xbox’s game-by-game exclusivity pivot and notes why the port still matters commercially after Forza Horizon 5’s long-delayed PS5 run. Treat VGC as optional context; the lockable PS5 sentence and the Eastern release clocks above come from the first-party Forza.net post, not an invented Xbox Wire quote.
