Valheim 1.0 Deep North Leaves Early Access Today

PC | Mac

Iron Gate’s official Valheim release-date post locks Valheim 1.0 — including the long-teased Deep North content — for September 9, 2026. The studio’s 1.0 FAQ fills in the consumer rules. Steam Early Access began February 2, 2021, so today’s 1.0 exit closes roughly five years and seven months in EA. This draft stays high-level on Deep North: new enemies, bases, and weapons per first-party messaging — no boss or gear spoilers beyond that.

Platforms expand on the familiar PC/console set. Valheim 1.0 ships on PC, Linux, and Mac (Steam, plus Mac App Store / Humble / Microsoft Store where listed) and on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as before, while PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 debut with 1.0. Iron Gate confirms full crossplay across all platforms. Cross-save is narrower: Xbox players can reach saves from a PC build launched via the Microsoft Store; beyond that, the FAQ says there is no general cross-platform save sync. Do not flatten that into “full cross-save everywhere,” and do not invent a Switch 1 SKU.

Pricing is a clean Early Access handoff. Existing EA owners get the 1.0 update free — no rebuy. New purchases move to a full-release price of $29.99 (regional differences possible). Server size stays 1–10 players. Iron Gate has not published an official unlock minute; third-party storefront clocks commonly point near 9:00 a.m. ET / 6:00 a.m. PT on September 9 — treat that as a third-party expectation, not an Iron Gate-stamped second.

For adjacent cross-platform progression context already live on RCG.news, see our report that Borderlands 4 finally moves toward true cross-platform progression. Valheim’s own lock today is simpler: 1.0 + Deep North on September 9, 2026; PC/Linux/Mac and Xbox continue; PS5 and Switch 2 join; full crossplay yes; Microsoft Store Xbox↔PC save sync only; free for EA owners; $29.99 for new buyers.

Players should verify their storefront of choice at go-live, keep old worlds if they want continuity (new Deep North generation still prefers unexplored map), and ignore any listing that implies a Switch 1 edition, a forced rebuy for EA owners, or blanket cross-save across every platform pair.
