Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is getting one more big voyage. Ubisoft’s update 1.0.8, which it calls the game’s final major content update, goes live today, Oct. 27, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at 7 a.m. PT, 9 a.m. CT, as reported by Eurogamer.

The headline feature is New Game Plus, which Ubisoft started building in July after the remake launched. Much of what you have earned carries over, including Edward’s tools, upgrades, weapons and trinkets, the Jackdaw’s upgrades, officer abilities and pets, your money, materials and trade goods, unlocked outfits, hideout progression and Codex items such as treasure maps. Quest items do not carry over, officers have to be recruited again, and forts must be retaken because the map’s fog of war resets.

New Game Plus also brings a new currency, Escudos, earned by completing challenges and looting chests you have already opened. Escudos buy exclusive outfits and items, and Reales can be exchanged for them at the General Store. Each new cycle gets harder, with elite soldiers and max-rank ships showing up more often, and you can go through New Game Plus up to five times.

For players who want pain right away, there is Nightmare Mode. Enemies react faster and hit harder, parry windows are tighter and ranged enemies target you more often. The biggest change is that the one-shot safety is gone, so heavy burst damage from bullets or explosives can kill you outright even with health left. Ubisoft says the goal is a harsh experience “where every duel can be your last.”

The patch also hides new community chests around the world and adds cosmetics, new takedown animations and a long list of bug fixes, according to VGC. The download is between 2 and 4.5GB on most platforms, but about 15.5GB on Xbox, so Xbox players may want to start it early.

Black Flag Resynced has been one of Ubisoft’s bright spots this year, selling more than 3.5 million copies in its first two weeks. Like other recent long-tail patches such as STALKER 2’s Zone Lookout update, this one is aimed at keeping players around long after launch.
