Battlefield 6 appears to have scrapped a planned Mass Effect crossover. Locked Mass Effect cosmetics that fans had spotted in the game have been removed with no explanation following EA’s announcement that it is closing BioWare, Kotaku reports.

The items included several N7 logos on patches and weapons, along with a charm of the Normandy, Commander Shepard’s ship from the original trilogy. Fans first noticed the locked cosmetics earlier this month, and they were apparently meant to arrive around N7 Day on Nov. 7, BioWare’s yearly celebration of the series. At some point after the closure news, they were pulled from the in-game store, according to Kotaku. Players on Reddit noted that the pack was gone the day after the announcement.

Kotaku said it has asked EA for comment. EA has not publicly explained the removal.

Second Mass Effect tie-in under a cloud

This is not the first time Battlefield 6 and Mass Effect have crossed paths at an awkward moment. Kotaku points out that a previous collaboration landed shortly after EA’s deep cuts at BioWare in 2025.

The removal follows EA’s decision to close BioWare and its Edmonton workspace and end early development on the next Mass Effect, part of a wider restructuring that included layoffs across the company. Since then, a trailer said to show the canceled Mass Effect: Universe has also surfaced online, though EA has not confirmed it is genuine. Kotaku notes that Amazon’s Mass Effect television series is reportedly still in the works.
