Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Is Out Now Everywhere

PlayStation

The whip is back in players’ hands. Konami has launched Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam, the company said in a October 15 announcement.

The exploration-focused 2D action game is a joint project from Konami, Dead Cells studio Motion Twin and Evil Empire. It is set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, and follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, as she hunts monsters through the burning city and Dracula’s castle.

What’s in the box

Rose carries the Vampire Killer whip and a wider arsenal of weapons and skills. Konami pitches exploration as the core loop, with secrets, upgrades and castle mysteries tucked off the main path. Composer Daniel Asadi handles the soundtrack. The official product page lists an ESRB Teen rating, roughly 8 GB for the standard edition (4 GB on Switch) and 60 fps on most platforms, with Switch targeting 30 fps.

Digital and physical Midnight Editions add alternate costumes for Rose, a Digital Sound & Art Gallery and an in-game relic item.

Reviews already lit up

Critical scores landed ahead of and around launch day. RCG tracked the early aggregate in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Hits 86 on Metacritic, the series’ strongest reception for a new mainline-style entry in years. Launch day makes that praise immediately testable on every current living-room platform plus Steam.

English and Japanese audio are supported, with a long list of text languages on the product page. A demo was available ahead of launch, and known-issues notes went up on the official site the day before street date for players hitting early patches.

For a franchise that spent a long stretch away from traditional 2D Belmont adventures, Belmont’s Curse is the clearest statement yet that Konami wants Castlevania back in players’ hands, not just on streaming charts.
