Konami has released the original Castlevania — the 1986 Nintendo Entertainment System classic — as a free direct port on iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play, Gematsu reported late September 24.
The free storefront window runs only through October 24, 2026. After that, Konami’s store notes say the game will no longer be available to claim on those storefronts, but players who already downloaded it can keep playing and re-download their copy.
What’s in the port
Store overview copy frames this as a direct port of the original title, with a visual touchpad and offline play. The release leans into franchise history — Simon Belmont’s whip-driven climb through Dracula’s castle and the series’ classic soundtrack — as Castlevania marks its 40th anniversary (1986–2026). Konami also posted a series anniversary trailer alongside the mobile drop.
This release is the original NES Castlevania, not a remake and not a later entry such as Symphony of the Night. Separately scheduled Castlevania projects on the calendar — including Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse demo timing — are separate titles.
