CONTROL Resonant is out today. Remedy Entertainment’s sequel to CONTROL launches worldwide on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with Xbox Play Anywhere covering Xbox console and Xbox on PC at no extra cost, per Xbox Wire and Remedy’s platform list.

Regional unlocks line up with a simultaneous North American morning drop: about 7:00 a.m. PT / 9:00 a.m. CT / 10:00 a.m. ET on September 24, with later evening slots in Japan and a Thursday-into-Friday midnight window in eastern Australia, according to Polygon‘s regional rundown.

Dylan Faden, warped Manhattan, Aberrant melee

Players step into Dylan Faden‘s shoes as a new form of resonance — alongside threats like the Hiss and the Mold — warps Manhattan and Jesse Faden goes missing. Remedy frames Resonant as its most expansive CONTROL game to date, with GeForce NOW support at launch and a Mac version via Steam and the App Store still due later in 2026.

Xbox Wire editor-in-chief Joe Skrebels’ September 23 genre deep-dive is the clearest day-of pitch for what changed: Resonant is a melee-forward action game first, then stacks systems that feel closer to an RPG, an open-zone adventure, and even a workplace comedy.

RPG heart, open-zone Manhattan, superhero movement

Instead of centering paranatural gunplay, Resonant pushes Dylan into close-range Aberrant combat with sprawling Talent trees, upgrade paths for weapon forms, secondary weapons and combat abilities, and bespoke combo finishers. Zones in warped Manhattan level up as you clear fights, secrets, and quests — and defeating area bosses called Resonant Entities makes those spaces more dangerous over time.

The map is not a traditional open world. It is a set of densely packed, highly designed zones packed with collectibles, activities, and off-path distractions, while Dylan’s early parautilitarian kit — jump, glide, dash, high-speed runs, and later gravity-bending traversal — reads like superhero movement through a bureau workplace that still plays for laughs amid the weirdness.

Day-of note

This launch package is distinct from earlier hands-on coverage; the story here is the street date, platforms, unlock window, and Xbox Wire’s melee/RPG/open-zone framing as Resonant goes live.
