Crimes Against Nature #1 Gets Second Print

Comics

Image Comics is rushing Crimes Against Nature #1 back to print after the debut sold out completely at the distributor level, according to an Image press release dated October 1, 2026. The series is by Eliot Rahal (Bleed Them Dry, Cult Classic) and Mattia Monaco (Eat Your Young, Knock ’Em Dead). The second-printing cover features new art by John Bivens (Malevolent).

Pitch: Hollywood animal trainer Doctor Kermit Groedan and his client/best friend Amigo the Ape — “the first gorilla ever nominated for an Academy Award” — are framed for a crime they did not commit and go on the run. Image lists #1 second printing and #2 (Monaco / Jorge Fornés covers) as available at comic shops on Wednesday, October 28, with UPCs in the release for retailers.

Rahal and Monaco’s quotes stress surprise and gratitude at the instant demand. Digital availability is called out across Kindle, Google Play, Apple Books, Nook, Kobo, Hoopla, and other platforms — useful for readers who missed the first print at their local shop.

For US Direct Market buyers, a same-week second printing is the classic Image sell-through signal. It sits in the same Image calendar cluster as other dated Image books already on RCG such as Image Dates Vampire on Aisle 6 for Dec. 23 — different tone (neo-noir ape crime vs holiday horror), same publisher pipeline.

Image’s same-week second printing plus a dated #2 on Oct. 28 gives shops a reorder path without waiting for a distant trade. Rahal and Monaco’s quotes read as genuine surprise at distributor sell-through — useful color, but the actionable news remains the Bivens second print and the Oct. 28 #2 street.

What we are not saying: we are not inventing print-run sizes, claiming every single retailer is sold out, or spoiling #2’s plot. Report distributor-level sellout, Bivens second printing this week, and #2 on October 28.
