Takafumi Noma, director of Unicorn Overlord, is launching a brand-new fantasy universe. Publisher Good Smile Company and developer Monochrome Corporation have announced original intellectual property IGNISPHERE, plus the first game set in that world — the action RPG DAWNGAZER — planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam in 2028, Gematsu reports, matching Good Smile’s PR TIMES release.

New IP, studio, and platforms

Monochrome, marking its 15th anniversary this month, is partnering with Good Smile to establish IGNISPHERE as both a fictional universe of nations and races and the name of the game studio led by Noma. Monochrome / IGNISPHERE Studio is developing DAWNGAZER as an action RPG, with Good Smile Company publishing. Planned language support covers English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The official X account @IgnisphereX launched Friday, September 25.

Music and media expansion

Yoshimi Kudo (Unicorn Overlord, Elden Ring) will compose music for the game; the teaser features Kudo’s composition with vocals coordinated by KOCHO. Beyond games, Monochrome and Good Smile plan merchandising — including figures, with Good Smile as merchandising contact — and multiple light-novel projects with Kadokawa’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint are in development. Exclusive interviews with Noma are live on Dengeki Online and Famitsu.

No firm month inside 2028, price, or detailed gameplay systems have been announced yet — just the ARPG framing, platforms, and the broader IGNISPHERE rollout.
