Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Is Out, Switch 2 Version Too

PlayStation

Dragon’s Dogma 2 finally has its big expansion. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launched on Friday, October 9, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it also marks the action RPG’s first appearance on Nintendo Switch 2.

Dark Arisen sends players north to Norgan, a long-abandoned region that is new to the game’s map. There, the Arisen teams up with a mysterious figure named Eir to uncover the secrets of the undying Fallen Dragon. Along the way, players dig up and appraise forgotten relics that unlock new weapons and abilities. The expansion also adds 12 Lost Rites dungeon challenges, trials built to test your skills that reward rare gear once owned by past Arisen. The Character Creator gets new options too, including new hairstyles and tattoos.

Pricing depends on what you already own. The complete Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen package, with the base game and the expansion, costs $49.99 on all four platforms. On PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, owners of the original can buy the Dark Arisen Expansion on its own as $29.99 DLC, including on Steam. The Switch 2 version is sold only as the full package. In its announcement of the release, Capcom said the Switch 2 version is part of its multi-platform strategy to grow the audience for a series that has sold more than 14 million units since the first game in 2012.

The expansion arrived alongside free Title Update 4.0. It adds a Hard Mode, official Enhanced PSSR support on PS5 Pro, and FSR 3 Frame Generation and DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation on PC. A new batch of Official Pawns also showed up at the Rift Stones: Toy Leon, Knockoff Ryu and Real Rudy, celebrating the latest episode of Capcom Collectibles.

If you want to get your character ready before heading north, the Dragon’s Dogma 2: Character Creation & Storage app is now available on Switch 2 as well as the other platforms. Capcom also released a “Welcome to Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen” video hosted by Ron Perlman for anyone coming to the game for the first time.
