Class is back in session. Coin Crew Games announced on the PlayStation Blog that Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School launches on PS5 on November 5.
The sequel trades the first game’s more linear run of escape rooms for a fully explorable, open-world campus. Coin Crew says the Academy is meant to feel like a place you can get lost in, with characters, quests, secrets and side puzzles waiting between the main escapes. Couch co-op and online co-op are available from the start, across the whole campus, the story and every puzzle.
Headmaster’s Tower and a rebuilt Humanities wing
The new post spotlights two areas. The Headmaster’s Tower was one of the first spaces the team worked on, and it leads back to the Headmaster’s Office, the setting of the very first escape in the original game. The studio used that room as its visual target while leveling up the sequel’s art style.
The Humanities Campus is the bigger change. Part of it had to be rebuilt after Quanty burned down the library in the first game, so the art director leaned into classical architecture for a cozier feel than the gritty Science Campus or the colorful Arts Campus. You won’t get in right away, but you’ll keep spotting its keyhole-shaped fountain from viewpoints across campus.
That tease is the point. Coin Crew says it designed the campus itself as a living puzzle, with interactable landmarks, side quests and escapes that reward curiosity outside of formal rooms. Puzzles are no longer strictly limited to four walls and a timer.
The first Escape Academy built a following as a great game to play with a friend on the couch, and the sequel is keeping that front and center. If you’ve been looking for co-op games with a lighter touch, RCG also has an eye on Bumper Bout’s PvP pinball demo ahead of its own launch this month.
