PlayStation 5 owners finally have a date for Forza Horizon 6. Xbox and Playground Games announced on Thursday, October 8, that the open-world racer launches on PS5 on January 26, 2027, and pre-orders are live on the PlayStation Store now. The game will also be sold on disc at retailers.
According to the official Forza announcement, the Standard and Deluxe Editions arrive on January 26. Premium Edition owners get in five days early, on January 21. Every PS5 pre-order also comes with a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 that drops into your garage once you finish the prologue.
The PS5 version is being built by Panic Button, the studio that handled the PS5 release of Forza Horizon 5, working closely with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. The pre-order trailer was captured on a base PS5 in a 4K, 30 frames-per-second Quality mode, and a 60fps Performance mode will be available too. PS5 players will get cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, and all user-made content carries over, including EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, liveries, and tuning setups.
January 21 is a big day for everyone else, too. That is when the game’s first Premium Expansion launches on all platforms. It is included with the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade, and the Expansions Bundle, and it will also be sold separately. Playground says a second expansion will follow later, and a free content update will land alongside the PS5 launch for all players, with details to come closer to release.
The date is technically a slip. Forza Horizon 6 came out on Xbox Series X|S and PC in May, and the PS5 version was originally promised for 2026. As recently as September, Playground was still saying it would arrive this year, as VGC points out.
That September promise is what RCG covered at the time: Forza Horizon 6 PS5 still later this year. Now PS5 drivers know they will be heading to Japan in the new year instead.
