PlayStationGod of War Laufey Delayed Three Months to May 20, 2027

God of War Laufey has been delayed three months. Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio moved the PlayStation 5 game from its planned February 16, 2027 release to May 20, 2027, as Gematsu reports.

The studio announced the change in a short social media post. It did not give a specific reason, but said it will use the extra time for polish: “We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.”

“Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen,” Santa Monica Studio wrote, adding that the team appreciates fans’ patience and will “be back to share more updates soon.”

What Laufey is

Laufey is the first game in the God of War series without Kratos in the lead role. Faye takes center stage in the Everywhen, a version of the afterlife that houses gods from multiple mythologies, and Eurogamer notes the game brings back the original series’ faster combat. Kratos still appears during Faye’s story, and the studio has said his next game will connect to the events of Laufey.

The new date also moves Laufey out of a crowded February 2027 that already includes the Fable reboot, Persona 4 Revival, and Metro 2039.

Fans who already locked in a premium order should note the timing shift. As we covered in October, God of War Laufey’s Collector Box doesn’t include the game, so the standard copy and the box are separate purchases.
