Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition is the Switch 2 fighting-game story of the morning.
GoNintendo’s September 16, 2026 report frames the Legendary Edition as launching on Nintendo Switch 2 today, with a trailer and feature rundown aimed at newcomers and veterans. Cygames’ official Switch 2 microsite lists the calendar date as September 17 — treat that as the studio’s posted launch day, and treat GoNintendo’s “today” language as same-window coverage (regional storefront / timezone framing can differ). An August 26, 2026 Cygames press release on Games Press had already locked Sept. 17 and an MSRP of $49.99 for the Legendary Edition on Nintendo Store / eShop.
Roster and controls
Both GoNintendo and Cygames state that all 40 playable characters come unlocked, including fighters tied to Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok (also on Switch 2). Accessibility is a headline pitch: Smart controls for streamlined one-button-style combo handling, full Manual controls for veterans, plus the newer Super Ultimate+ powered-up scheme (Cygames notes Super Ultimate+ is not available in Ranked or Casual online). GoNintendo’s copy also highlights Smart and Super Ultimate control options in the same beginner-friendly stack.
Switch 2 exclusives called out on the official page include Gyro Versus (shake Joy-Con / Joy-Con 2 to fire combos; not for Ranked/Casual) and Local Communication versus nearby Switch 2 systems.
Crossplay — confirmed
Cygames confirms full online crossplay with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam for online matches and Grand Bruise Legends, with a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership required for online play. GoNintendo likewise notes online crossplay with other platforms for matches and party modes.
What Legendary Edition packs
