House House, the Melbourne studio behind Untitled Goose Game, has explained why its co-op hit Big Walk has never come to Xbox, and why it does not plan to bring it there. In a statement on its website, republished by IGN and GamesIndustry.biz, the developer said the decision follows the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft.
“We have made the decision not to release Big Walk on Xbox, in accordance with the Palestinian-led BDS movement’s call to boycott Microsoft, and their designation of Microsoft Games (and Xbox) as a priority boycott target,” House House wrote.
“We are disappointed too”
Big Walk launched earlier this year on PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. House House said it announced in June that the release would be limited to those platforms, and has fielded a steady stream of questions about an Xbox version since.
The studio acknowledged the cost for players. “It has always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and we know that keeping the game off Xbox runs counter to those intentions,” it wrote. “This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing. We are disappointed too.”
House House added that it “would love for people to be able to play the game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.”
Not the only studio
GamesIndustry.biz notes that other independent developers have made similar moves. Luck be a Landlord creator Dan DiIorio asked players not to buy his game on Xbox and pledged a donation to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and Ice Water pulled Tenderfoot Tactics from the platform. Microsoft said in May 2025 that an internal review found “no evidence to date” that its technology provided to Israel’s Ministry of Defense had been used to target or harm people in Gaza.
Big Walk has been one of the year’s best-reviewed games, and it went into awards season strong. As RCG reported, it tied 007 First Light for the most nominations among the 2026 Golden Joystick Awards nominees. Xbox players hoping to join in, though, should not expect a port any time soon.
