Shane Davis’ Inglorious Rex 4 Tops $10K on Back Me Bro

Comics

Shane Davis’ creator-owned sci-fi fight comic is back for a fourth round, and it is off to a fast start. Shane Davis’ Inglorious Rex Vol 4 Comic Book went live on Back Me Bro on Sunday, October 4, under the 9 Lives Comics banner. As of 11:35 a.m. CT, the campaign showed $10,279 pledged from 53 backers against a $500 flexible goal, or about 2,056% funded. The page lists the end as Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 3:00 a.m. ET, with 31 days left.

The book is Inglorious Rex 4: Crowned in Chaos, which the campaign describes as a 48-page graphic novel by Davis. Rising MMA fighter Alex Stone and his Rex, 232, are now the newest Rex Champion, and his former girlfriend and fellow Rex Fighter Annatomic challenges him for the title before a new force threatens their home city. The listing keeps the tagline the series has carried since the first book: “Every fighter has a beast within. The question is can the fighter control the beast once it’s out.” Davis had promoted the launch in an X post on Saturday, October 3.

Most book tiers list estimated delivery in November 2027. Apparel is listed for June 2027, and CGC books and original art for January 2028. The companion 232 Beast Mode Vol. 2 is written by Davis and Lin with art by Aaron Alfeche. Stretch goals are listed as TBA.

Why the Back Me Bro move matters

The first three books launched on Indiegogo. Volume 1 ran from September 4 to November 3, 2021, and the campaign’s Indiegogo page now lists $303,436 from 2,440 backers. The Splintering reported that it raised more than $150,000 in its first weekend. The Splintering described that first book as co-written by Davis and Lin, with pencils by Davis, inks by Lin and colors by Jason Wright, set in a future where martial arts are dominated by genetically engineered super-fighters. Volume 2 also ran on Indiegogo. Volume 3, Fighting Spirit, was a 48-page graphic novel that later got a “King Kong VS 232” second-chance campaign. Davis isn’t new to Back Me Bro either: he drew a variant cover for Ethan Van Sciver’s campaign, covered by RCG when Cyberfrog: Nothin’ Weird #1 surged past $53K on Back Me Bro.

For US backers, note the flexible goal: on Back Me Bro, that means you are charged at checkout rather than when the campaign ends. If you want one of the 24-hour foil covers, the window closes about a day after launch.

What we are not saying: the funding totals above are a snapshot as of 11:35 a.m. CT on October 4 and will change. Rewards aren’t guaranteed; Back Me Bro’s own page says so, and delivery dates are estimates. The discounted secret tiers and free Mange mini comic Davis teased for prelaunch sign-ups do not appear on the public campaign page, so we can’t confirm how those are being handled.
