Marvel Cosmic Invasion’s Siege of Castle Doom DLC Adds Doctor Doom and Invisible Woman on Nov. 10

Doctor Doom is next in Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Dotemu and Tribute Games’ second DLC for the beat-’em-up, The Siege of Castle Doom, launches Nov. 10, and the developers have detailed its new game mode on the PlayStation Blog. The DLC also adds two new playable characters: the Invisible Woman and Doctor Doom himself.

The new mode asks what Doom was doing during the Annihilation Wave. Players storm Castle Doomstadt while Reed Richards guides them over the radio and Doom mocks their progress. The team says it wanted something with far more replay value than the main story, mixing classic beat-’em-up fighting with a mode that changes from run to run.

That push and pull is built into two gauges. Doom’s new Cosmic Inductor is charging up to make him Earth’s champion, and a Siege Gauge fills every time the heroes are beaten by enemies inside the castle. Every victory, on the other hand, earns batteries that fill Reed’s Stabilizer and stall Doom’s plan. Players need to collect enough batteries before the Siege Gauge gets too high.

Progress through the castle comes down to choosing doors. Equipment doors hand out special powers like force fields and energy blasts, Event doors lead to arenas with temporary rule changes, Heal doors restore health, Infinite doors grant unlimited ammo or focus, and Progression doors give batteries for the Stabilizer.

The castle itself is big. The developers say The Siege of Castle Doom has more than five times as many encounters as the main game, before counting its new events, traps and hazards. Expect the Halls of Doom filled with medieval torture tools, blizzards on the battlements and tricky elevator platforms in the Tower of Solitude.

It is a busy fall for Marvel games, with Marvel Rivals letting 50 players fight Thanos this month. The Siege of Castle Doom arrives Nov. 10.
