Marvel‘s new Midnight Universe has not even hit shelves, and the three launch books are already headed back to press. Midnight Spider-Man #1, Midnight Fantastic Four #1, and Midnight X-Men #1 have collectively surpassed one million pre-orders ahead of their October 7, 2026 street date, with second printings of all three issues dated October 28 — two weeks after launch — according to AIPT and Marvel’s announce.

The creative teams and the uncloaked reprints

Midnight Spider-Man #1 comes from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist ScieTronc, with an uncloaked second-printing cover by Steve Beach. Midnight Fantastic Four #1 pairs Benjamin Percy with Kev Walker, who also supplies that issue’s uncloaked second-printing cover. Midnight X-Men #1 is Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte, with Dike Ruan on the uncloaked second-printing cover. GateCrashers and Marvel’s solicit copy frame the reprints as fully revealed versions of the previously cloaked regular covers.

Marvel is pitching Midnight as a long-term interconnected horror line rather than a short event: a cursed future for mutantkind, a grotesque Oscorp-driven transformation for Peter Parker, and a Fantastic Four pushed into dangerous scientific territory.

Context on the order numbers

Bleeding Cool notes that while the three Midnight #1s clear a collective million — averaging roughly a third of a million each, with some titles possibly higher — Absolute Batman is still pulling nearer 500,000 orders on a single ongoing issue years into its run. That comparison is publisher-and-retailer context, not a per-title Marvel unit split; Marvel has not published individual Midnight order breakdowns beyond the collective million milestone.
