Carol Danvers is getting a new ongoing series, and Daredevil is about to hit a legacy milestone. At the Bullpen Bulletins! panel at New York Comic Con on Friday, Stephen Wacker, Marvel Comics’ new editor-in-chief, announced Captain Marvel #1 by writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Rachael Stott for May 2027, and set Daredevil #700 by Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett for March 2027. Marvel.com calls it Wacker’s first-ever Bullpen Bulletins panel, and he used it to reveal what’s next for a hero Marvel describes as one of his personal favorites.

Captain Marvel, grounded

The new series picks up after Avengers: Armageddon and, according to Marvel, spins out of Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s upcoming Avengers run. Marvel’s synopsis says Carol “finds herself grounded like never before,” and that to rise again she will have to “challenge everything she thought she knew about being Captain Marvel—and break every rule along the way.” Meanwhile, “a threat that has been quietly assembling in the shadows of the Marvel Universe for decades is finally ready to make its move.”

Wilson is best known at Marvel for her run on Ms. Marvel, which began in 2014, and The Beat notes that Captain Marvel will be her second current ongoing for the publisher after Black Cat. In a video message shown at the panel, she said she was “so excited to be returning to these characters who I love so much, these readers who I love so much, and to be taking Carol on her next big adventure,” and signed off: “So chin up, put your boots on. We’re going back up!” Stott, whose Marvel credits include Fantastic Four, called Carol “one of my absolute favorite characters.” Marvel released a promotional piece by Stott alongside the announcement.

Daredevil reaches #700

Phillips and Garbett’s Daredevil, which Marvel says launched this year as the biggest debut issue in the character’s history, reaches its 700th issue in March 2027. Marvel lists Phillips as writer and Garbett on art and a wraparound cover, with a variant cover by longtime Daredevil artist David Mack. No story details for the milestone were released.

The road there starts in January with Daredevil #11, drawn by guest artist Emilio Laiso, which introduces Latch, a new character Marvel calls “a dangerous new player in Hell’s Kitchen” who is “poised to turn Daredevil’s world upside down.” For readers looking to jump on, Marvel says Daredevil Vol. 1: Tomorrow’s Devil, collecting the first five issues, arrives in December.

X-Men: Regulators and more

Wacker also revealed X-Men: Regulators, a five-issue limited series from writer Mikki Kendall and artist Georges Jeanty, with covers by Ken Lashley, launching in February 2027. The Regulators debuted in last year’s Uncanny X-Men Annual, and the solicitation published by AIPT describes a new threat “in an alluring guise” emerging in the bayou around Haven House, where mutants found refuge more than a century ago.

The panel also previewed Gail Simone and Juan Frigeri’s Uncanny X-Men #41 and #42, which continue Sarah Gaunt’s war on Xavier’s legacy in January, and Ryan North and Ramon Rosanas’ Fantastic Four #22 in February, in which the dead rise in rural Canada and Wolverine joins the FF to deal with it.

Wacker’s opening pitch

The slate follows Wacker’s keynote at NYCC Retailer Day earlier in the week, where, as The Beat reported, he told shop owners: “You’re gonna see names on Marvel books next year and beyond that haven’t been on Marvel in a long time. And some that have never been on Marvel at all.” Marvel also used Retailer Day to unveil new collected-edition lines, including the Marvel Brick compendiums due in the second half of 2027.
