Marvel Unlimited stopped accepting new sign-ups on Monday, October 5, 2026, as Marvel and WEBTOON Entertainment prepare a replacement digital comics service. Per Marvel’s announcement, the new Marvel Comics app — developed and operated by WEBTOON for mobile and web — launches November 16, 2026, carrying more than 35,000 Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios titles.
This is a platform and subscription handoff, not a sale of Marvel’s comics line. Marvel describes WEBTOON as its licensee running a brand-new app branded “Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON.” Bleeding Cool’s October 5 report tracks the same schedule and pricing from Marvel’s FAQ and member emails.
Unlimited wind-down dates
- October 5, 2026: new Marvel Unlimited sign-ups stop. Existing members keep complimentary library access through December 7.
- November 16, 2026: Marvel Comics app launches; library and reading-history import opens; prorated Unlimited refunds issue on or around this date.
- December 7, 2026: Unlimited stops adding new content and stops reading access.
- December 21, 2026: last day to browse Unlimited libraries and confirm a successful import.
- December 28, 2026: Unlimited app removed.
Members who create a WEBTOON account can import Unlimited libraries, reading progress, redeemed comics, and saved issues into the new app. Marvel asks fans to complete that import before December 7 so they can confirm the migration succeeded. After the switch, a new paid membership is required for full library access on the WEBTOON-run service. Purchased and redeemed comics remain readable without a subscription once an account exists.
Base, Ultimate, and founding pricing
Marvel lists two tiers for the new app. Base is $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year (plus tax), with new issues available as soon as three months after print. Ultimate is $12.49 per month or $99.99 per year (plus tax), with new issues as soon as 30 days after print plus the full library. Fans can pre-register at marvel.webtoon.com for a founding Ultimate annual price of $59.99 (plus tax) for year one, then $99.99 thereafter. Marvel did not restate Unlimited’s prior subscription price in the announce.
New York Comic Con attendees can preview a beta at booth #2435 (October 8–11) and claim the founding offer on site. The first 2,000 founding claims receive a limited-edition Marvel Comics print ID card. Discovery tools called out for launch include cover-scroll browsing, personalized recommendations, character and creator pages, a Pull List, Upcoming Releases, and support for both traditional page turn and vertical scroll.
Active Unlimited subscriptions are eligible for an automated, prorated refund for unused time on or around November 16, with Marvel saying refunds may take three to five business days to post. Marvel.com billing support is directed to help.marvel.com or 1-844-362-7835 by December 31, 2026; Apple and Google store purchases must go through those stores. Bleeding Cool notes gift-membership transfer details are still outstanding in Marvel’s FAQ roundup.
