Tokyo Game Show 2026 public-day hands-ons put fresh meat on Mega Man: Dual Override — Capcom’s first all-new mainline Mega Man since Mega Man 11 (2018) — without rehashing the full Sep 16 Capcom Spotlight Proto Man announce package. Release window remains Spring 2027 (exact day TBA) on PlayStation 5 / PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2 / Switch, Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store per prior Capcom / Games Press Spotlight copy).

Custom Chips + Override (GosuGamers)

GosuGamers’ TGS impressions (demo as Mega Man) frame Dual Override as “more accessible, but certainly not easy.” Players can modify Mega Man’s kit with Custom Chips — the demo offered defense-focused, strength-focused, and no-chip builds. Chips enable dash-through-enemy and high-damage options that stack with an Override temporary power-up (at will or near death). GosuGamers notes the levels feel more chaotic early, with addictive deaths from mistimed dashes and chip switches — accessibility tools that do not flatten classic Mega Man challenge.

Twinkle Girl boss

Both GosuGamers and IGN end their demo passes on new Robot Master Twinkle Girl. Capcom’s TGS interview with GosuGamers describes her fireworks / entertainer-robot motif inside a robot exhibition stage, designed to stay Mega Man-esque while reading cute to newcomers. Stages are split into three ascending-difficulty areas rather than one long run — Capcom’s stated approachability tweak (complete first area, then ramp) without deleting the franchise’s difficulty identity.

Proto Man feel (IGN)

IGN’s TGS preview played the same Twinkle Girl route as Proto Man (not a Mega Man reskin): short-range Proto Buster that hits hard, charge shots as a semi-circle slash, heat/overheat management, classic shield (boomerang throw + jump-block), and shield-linked uppercut / horizontal dive instead of copying Robot Master weapons. Character is locked for the whole run at start — Mega Man or Proto Man, not mid-game swaps. IGN also notes visible scuff damage on player/enemies/boss and checkpoint restarts (limited lives absent in the demo; Capcom told GosuGamers lives are still under consideration for launch).

Soft calendar only

Do not re-lead Spotlight’s Teostra / Pragmata / sale beats here. This package is TGS demo feel: chips + Twinkle Girl + Proto Man kit + Spring 2027 multiplat.

As-of: 2026-09-20 morning ~8:25 AM CT (America/Chicago). Spring 2027 multiplat, Custom Chips/Override, Twinkle Girl fireworks motif, three-part stages, and Proto Man close-range kit verified against GosuGamers impressions + Capcom interview + IGN Proto Man preview. Exact Spring 2027 day TBA — not invented.
