Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is out, and one of its first store bundles is raising money for veterans. The C.O.D.E. Valor Pack was built with U.S. Marine Corps veteran Kyle Carpenter, the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient, and Activision says 100% of its net proceeds from the pack go to the Call of Duty Endowment.
The Endowment helps veterans in the U.S. and U.K. find meaningful jobs after their service. “I am honored to support the Call of Duty Endowment mission in helping veterans find meaningful and purposeful jobs, but also to help show the world the value that veterans bring to the workforce,” Carpenter said.
The pack costs $19.99 and centers on a “Valor” Operator inspired by Carpenter, along with a “Relentless” Operator skin. It also includes a “Forged Resolve” M4 weapon blueprint, a “Still Standing” Rezi 12 shotgun blueprint, a knife, a weapon charm, a sticker, a calling card, an emblem, a loading screen and XP tokens.
Carpenter’s story is the heart of the bundle. On Nov. 21, 2010, in Marjah, Afghanistan, he shielded a fellow Marine from a grenade blast and was severely wounded. He spent years recovering and received the Medal of Honor in 2014. “My legacy isn’t defined by a single moment,” he says in the series.
Ahead of launch, the Endowment released Forged in Valor, a three-part video series on the making of the pack. The episodes follow Carpenter from answering the call to serve, through his long recovery, to the details the team worked into his Operator. “Sacrifice is a duty. Resilience is a choice. The greatest power I have is to make that choice,” he says in the second episode.
Modern Warfare 4 launched Oct. 23, after a campaign early access period that drew its first round of reviews. The Valor Pack is available in the in-game store now.
