NintendoShrek 2 Remastered Is Official, Launching Nov. 10 for $29.99 on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, Switch and PC

Shrek 2 is coming back. Aspyr announced DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered during Tuesday’s ID@Xbox and IGN Showcase, and the remaster of the 2004 licensed game launches November 10 for $29.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, according to Gematsu.

The reveal confirms what a Microsoft Store page had already shown. Gematsu spotted that listing on October 16 and guessed the game would be shown at this week’s ID@Xbox Showcase, since Shrek briefly appeared in the show’s teaser trailer.

What the remaster changes

The original Shrek 2 game came out for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and PC in May 2004. Aspyr’s overview, published by Gematsu, says the new version rebuilds everything with better textures, an enhanced UI, 4K resolution and cutscenes. It also adds a Photo Mode and a Cheat Mode, which Aspyr says is there to make a playthrough “a seamless experience.”

The structure of the original stays. You travel through the kingdom of Far Far Away, “from Shrek’s swamp to Fiona’s castle and everywhere in between,” and you can swap heroes at any time to fight enemies, take on bosses and solve environmental puzzles with each character’s abilities. You can play alone or with up to three friends, either on the couch, online, or with a mix of local and online players.

Preorder discounts on Xbox

Preorders are open now. Xbox Wire says Game Pass members can get up to 20% off the Xbox Series X|S preorder, while non-members get a 10% discount, through November 9. Xbox Wire called it “the cult-classic, button-mashing co-op adventure” in its showcase recap.
