Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Year Two Adds Godzilla and Persona

PlayStation

Sega has laid out a second year of content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and it reads like a crossover wish list. During a Year Two showcase on Friday, October 9, Sega announced a new 1v1 mode, more free racers, and a Season Pass Two built around Godzilla, Evangelion, Hello Kitty, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Persona. Year Two officially starts on November 3.

The biggest free addition is Duel Mode, a head-to-head race against a single opponent. A new Duel Boost gauge fills over time and as you use items, and you can spend it for big bursts of speed. You can also see your rival’s items, gadgets and position, so playing offense and defense with your items matters. Duel Mode includes offline Rival Duel matches against CPU racers, online free matchmaking, limited-time best-of-10 events with ranks, and friend matches. The gadget system gets a new Grand Master Plate with a seventh “Super Slot” and 15 new gadgets on day one, and post-launch characters will now show up as CPU opponents.

Free racers are coming too. Bayonetta arrives on November 3, unlocked through Rival Duel matches. A McLaren Racing machine driven by Sonic follows later in November, and Persona 3’s Aigis joins in early 2027.

Season Pass Two costs $29.99 and is on sale now. According to the full Year Two rundown, it includes six packs:

  • Godzilla Pack (November 3, 2026): the Godzilla Escape course plus Godzilla, King Ghidorah and Mothra machines.
  • Evangelion Pack (January 2027): a Tokyo-III course with Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley as racers.
  • Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack (Q2 2027): Hello Kitty and Kuromi.
  • SEGALAND Pack (Q3 2027): After Burner, OutRun and Super Megalo machines.
  • Midgar Pack (working title) from Final Fantasy VII Remake (Q3 2027).
  • Reload Revival Royal Pack from the Persona series (Q4 2027).

Pass owners also get a Sega Controllers decal pack now and a Sega Consoles machine pack on November 3. Anyone who owns both season passes gets Super Shadow.

The base game is also getting cheaper. The Standard Edition drops permanently from $69.99 to $39.99, and the Digital Deluxe Edition from $89.99 to $59.99. A $59.99 Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition bundles the game with Season Pass Two, but Sega warns current owners not to buy it, since they would end up with a second copy of the game.

Persona fans have plenty coming in 2027. RCG recently covered Persona 4 Revival’s new Shadow trailer ahead of its February launch.
