Star Wars Zero Company has sold more than one million copies. Electronic Arts announced the milestone Friday morning on the official EA Star Wars account. The turn-based tactics game from Bit Reactor launched on August 27, and EA didn’t say when it crossed the mark.

“Over one million operators and counting!” the post reads, using the game’s name for its players. The key art attached to it makes the count explicit, with “1 Million Units Sold” in large type next to the logos of Bit Reactor, Lucasfilm Games, and EA. The post doesn’t break the number down by platform or region. Zero Company is out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Patch 1.2 is next

The same post says “Patch 1.2 will release next week” and asks players to “stay tuned for continued updates to the game.” EA didn’t give a day or any patch notes. The last numbered update was Patch 1.1, whose notes EA posted on September 9.

An estimate, now made official

Friday’s post is the first sales figure EA has released for the game. Until now, the million mark rested on an outside estimate. On September 22, data firm Alinea Analytics estimated that Zero Company had “passed a million sold-through,” with about 70% of those sales on Steam and roughly $50 million in revenue. Kotaku pointed back to that estimate again on Wednesday. EA’s post confirms the milestone but offers no revenue figure and no platform split, so Alinea’s numbers remain the firm’s own.

Good news for a studio rebuilding

The milestone lands two days after Bit Reactor said it had started bringing some furloughed developers back to work. The Maryland studio had furloughed most of its staff in the run-up to launch, and Game File reported Wednesday that the returns bring its paid headcount to more than half of its pre-furlough size.

Neither EA’s post nor Bit Reactor has tied the sales figure to further returns, and EA hasn’t given a more exact count. Push Square, which reported the announcement, called the game a turn-based strategy adventure that “has clearly landed with fans.” Players will get their next look at where the game is headed when Patch 1.2 arrives next week.
