CESA has canceled the entire Monday, September 21, 2026 (national holiday) public day of Tokyo Game Show 2026 as Typhoon No. 25 approaches the Japanese archipelago, while confirming that Sunday, September 20 will still be held as scheduled, according to an official TGS notice posted September 19.
The organizers say afternoon winds and rain on Monday raise concerns about public transportation disruptions and attendees’ ability to return home safely. Prioritizing safety for visitors, exhibitors, and staff, CESA is canceling the full Monday program at Makuhari Messe.
What’s still on / what’s not
- September 20 (Sun): Event proceeds as scheduled. CESA notes facilities or activities could still change or cancel for safety depending on weather and venue conditions. No refunds for Sunday tickets because the day is going ahead. Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast — attendees are asked to check weather and transit and allow extra travel time.
- September 21 (Mon, holiday): Canceled for the full day.
Refunds and possible stage streams
CESA will refund tickets purchased for Monday, September 21. Procedures will come from the ticket vendor where tickets were bought; an official-site announcement is promised once details are finalized.
Separately, CESA says it is working to arrange online streams for some Monday stage events as part of the official program, pending venue safety confirmation. Whether streams happen, plus content and broadcast times, will be announced on the official site and social channels when locked — RCG is not naming specific stage shows until CESA does.
Context (ANN)
Anime News Network reports this would have been TGS’s first five-day edition (business days Sep 17–18; public days Sep 19–21, with Sep 21 a holiday). ANN cites business-day attendance of 53,630 on Thursday and 52,545 on Friday, and identifies the storm as Typhoon No. 25 (Dujuan) approaching the Kanto region on Monday. Last year’s four-day show drew 263,101 attendees per ANN.
As-of: 2026-09-19 morning ~8:25 AM CT (America/Chicago). Sep 20 held / Sep 21 canceled, Monday refunds, and possible stage streams verified against CESA primary. Attendance and Dujuan naming attributed to ANN. No invented stream lineup.
