FromSoftware Delays Switch 2 Exclusive The Duskbloods to 2027 for Final Balance Work

The Duskbloods will not make it out this year. FromSoftware has delayed its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive to 2027, the studio said in a statement on X, as reported by VGC.

“While development of The Duskbloods is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027,” FromSoftware wrote. “We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support.”

The studio tied the decision to what it learned from the game’s network test in August. “During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression,” the statement said. “To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.”

The Duskbloods was announced for Switch 2 with a 2026 release window, but FromSoftware never attached a specific date to it. With the end of the year approaching and no date in sight, many players had already started to expect a slip. The new window is just as open-ended: FromSoftware has only said 2027, with no month or season attached.

The game is a multiplayer action title from the team behind Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring, and it is being built exclusively for Nintendo’s new console. That makes it one of the more unusual projects in FromSoftware’s recent history, both for its platform and for its focus on online play rather than a solo adventure.

Balance has been a recurring theme in what the studio has shared about the game. Earlier this year FromSoftware said The Duskbloods would use ranked matchmaking to address skill gaps between players, a sign that fair competition has been on the team’s mind for a while. The extra months now appear to be going toward the same goal: tuning how matches play out before the game reaches a wider audience.

For Switch 2 owners, the delay removes one of the bigger exclusive names that had been loosely expected before the end of 2026. FromSoftware has not said whether another network test is planned before launch.
