Thief: The Dark Project Remastered — New Gameplay Trailer; Winter Window

NintendoMoody 16:9 RCG gaming thumbnail of a black thief hood clasp, glowing water and moss arrows, and a chrome blackjack on wet cobblestone under moonlight, no text or logos.

Nightdive Studios just dropped the material new beat for Thief: The Dark Project Remastered: a gameplay-heavy trailer at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct (Sep 20). PC Gamer walked the footage — Garrett stuffing pockets through manors, sewers, crypts, and tombs — plus a clear peek at modern gamepad UI with an inventory/weapon wheel that echoes popular controller mods for the original. This package leads the new trailer + feel, not the June announce rehash.

What’s new in the trailer

PC Gamer flags Nightdive’s usual remaster touch: keep the original art style intact rather than ugly uprezzed textures. The controller wheel and item selection look pulled from the best existing PC mods — flicking between water/moss/fire arrows should feel natural on pad. Soft: soundtrack-forward blackjacking and arrow combat in the cut may undersell the classic “stand in a dark corner and memorize patrols” pacing, but the systems on display are the remaster’s actual play layer.

Winter window + platforms (known context)

GoNintendo frames release as Winter 2026 (exact day TBA). Platforms remain the June slate via Gematsu: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC (Steam / Epic / GOG). Remaster uses Nightdive’s KEX Engine, includes full Thief Gold content (extra missions/enemies), up to 4K/120, achievements, mission selector, Vault extras, and built-in custom campaign support.

As-of: 2026-09-20 evening ~5:30 PM CT (America/Chicago). Sep 20 gameplay trailer (PC Gamer), Winter 2026 window (GoNintendo), and multiplat/KEX/Gold framing (Gematsu June + GoNintendo) verified. Exact street day still TBA — do not invent.
