Rom, Space Knight is back in the Energon Universe. Skybound and Image Comics have revealed preview pages and covers for Void Rivals #36, an arc-ending issue that arrives in comic shops and on digital platforms on Nov. 25, according to Image Comics.
The issue brings the long-running family feud between Proximus and Solila to a head. “Brother and sister reunited, but the reunion is not without conflict!” the solicitation reads. “That’s right, it’s Proximus vs. Solila as we learn more about their tragic childhood in Zertonia.” Image’s listing adds: “Seriously, though. More ROM this issue!”
Rom made a stealth debut in Skybound’s universe as a surprise in blind-bagged copies of M.A.S.K. #1, and that story was later released to everyone as Rom Special #1, Comics Beat notes. Void Rivals #36 gives the classic Hasbro hero a bigger role in wrapping up the arc.
Robert Kirkman writes the issue, with art by Conor Hughes, colors by Patricio Delpeche and letters by Rus Wooton. Series co-creator Lorenzo De Felici draws the main cover, with open-order variants by Hughes and Oliver Ono, a 1:25 incentive cover by Miquel Muerto and a 1:50 incentive cover by Balám.
Void Rivals was the first book of the Energon Universe, Skybound and Hasbro’s shared continuity that also includes Transformers, G.I. Joe and M.A.S.K. The line has become one of the biggest success stories in modern comics, with Kirkman and Jason Howard’s Transformers winning two Eisner Awards.
The issue costs $3.99 and runs 32 pages. Kirkman has said the line will keep its $3.99 price in 2027, even as cover prices rise elsewhere.
Since then, the Energon Universe has kept pulling in more of Hasbro’s catalog, and Rom’s growing presence in Void Rivals suggests the cosmic side of the shared universe still has room to expand after this arc closes.
Void Rivals #36 is out Nov. 25. Image lists Void Rivals #37 for Dec. 23 as the next arc begins.
