Witcher 3 Remastered’s Next Patch Targets PS5 Performance

PlayStation

CD Projekt Red has shared what’s next for The Witcher 3 Remastered. In a post on X on Monday, October 5, the studio listed the fixes it is working on and said, “We’re aiming to address many of these in the next update.”

The list:

  • Further performance improvements, “particularly on PS5”
  • Further visual adjustments
  • My Rewards and Twitch Drops fixes
  • Making Ukrainian localization available in other regions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
  • Voiceover audio fixes on consoles

CDPR added that it is investigating other reported issues and asked players to keep sending reports through its support site. It is also “working on bringing more mods across all platforms” with mod.io, building on the cross-platform mod support added in the Remastered release. The studio did not give a date for the next patch.

The free Remastered upgrade arrived on September 29 and has been a huge draw. Players flooded back, and the game hit a new all-time Steam peak over the weekend, as RCG reported when The Witcher 3 hit a record 137,724 Steam players. The launch has also been bumpy. As Eurogamer reports, players flagged technical problems alongside complaints that the game now looks too bright, and CDPR has already pushed a couple of lighting-related hotfixes.

Not everyone is happy with the priorities. Eurogamer points to replies on CDPR’s post criticizing the attention on Twitch Drops and localization while bugs remain, and to players asking for the option to return to the older next-gen version on PS5. On PC, Eurogamer notes, players can roll back the game version without much trouble, but that option is not available on consoles.

The Remastered update also raises the game’s minimum PC requirements and serves as the foundation for Songs of the Past, the new expansion CDPR plans for next year. For now, PS5 players are the ones most likely to notice the next patch.
