Diablo IV’s big 30th-anniversary season did not open the gates cleanly.
On September 15, 2026, Blizzard’s planned kickoff for Season 15: Season of Hell’s Legacy ran straight into a flood of login failures. Players hammered the forums and social channels with error 3000008 and error 3000006 (shorthand 300008 also circulated in thread replies). A Blizzard community manager first acknowledged that some players could not log in, then followed with the harder update: issues were affecting the day’s launch, and Season 15 was delayed while the team investigated — no new start clock attached to that delay post.
The stumble landed on the same calendar day as Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection going live on Nintendo Switch 2 (covered separately in our Age of Hatred Switch 2 package). New portable players joked that they had arrived just in time for classic day-one Sanctuary chaos; the delay story here is the season kickoff itself, not a rehash of the Switch 2 SKU.
What Blizzard said (primary)
Per Blizzard’s Diablo IV forum PSA thread for September 15:
- Awareness: “We’re aware of an issue preventing some players from logging in… investigating…”
- Delay: “We’re continuing to address issues affecting today’s launch of Season of Hell’s Legacy. As a result, Season 15 is currently delayed… we’ll share updates as we have them.”
- Evening hotfix (later same day): login fix deployed; players could log in again; Solo Self Found (SSF) remained unavailable pending further investigation.
Icy Veins’ follow-up summarizing Blizzard’s Hotfix 1 for patch 3.2.1 framed the resolution bluntly: the login issue was resolved, the Seasonal Realm is now available, and SSF stays offline while investigation continues. Kotaku’s same-day report (Ethan Gach) matched the delay arc — mid-launch freeze after the error-code flood — and noted Blizzard’s X/@Diablo awareness post in the same window.
Progress rollback — confirmed vs inferred
Some players who briefly got into Seasonal content reported odd states (including Rebirth / carryover weirdness). Kotaku reported that anyone who already started would likely see progress rolled back given the scale of the delay. A forum reply chain also pointed at a Blizzard CM on Reddit calling a season reset “very likely.” Treat rollback risk as coverage-inferred / CM-adjacent, not as a standalone official patch-note confirmation of wiped characters at write time. Official text we can hard-cite is the delay + later hotfix language above.
Why the season mattered (context, not a full feature roundup)
Hell’s Legacy is Blizzard’s stated centerpiece of Diablo’s 30th anniversary — Deckard Cain’s Diablo IV debut, living-history questing, Legacy Uniques (Stone of Jordan, Messerschmidt’s Reaver, and related relics), and the usual seasonal endgame/QoL stack. That celebration still starts under a cloud: anniversary day became a server-side firefight first, cosmetics and nostalgia second.
As-of: evening September 15, 2026 (2026-09-15 ~5:20 PM CDT (America/Chicago)). Delay + error codes verified against Kotaku and Blizzard’s Sep 15 forum PSA; evening restoration / Seasonal Realm live + SSF still down verified against Blizzard hotfix language via Icy Veins’ same-day Hotfix 1 summary. New start time was not published with the delay post; season returned via hotfix rather than a pre-announced clock.
