FromSoftware has taken the online servers for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 offline on all platforms, calling the outage temporary and blaming a server issue. When RCG checked around 5 PM CT Friday, Oct. 30, the servers were still down and no restoration time had been announced.

“Due to a server issue, the game servers for the following titles will be temporarily unavailable on all platforms,” FromSoftware posted, naming Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3. The studio added: “We will provide updates once we have information regarding the server restoration time. We apologize for the inconvenience.” Eurogamer first reported the announcement.

Can you still play Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3?

Yes, offline. Both games run single-player without a connection, so campaigns and saves are not locked out. What goes missing is everything online:

  • PvP invasions and duels
  • Co-op summon signs
  • Player messages and bloodstains

Not the first Dark Souls server outage

The trilogy has been here before. In 2022, Bandai Namco pulled the servers for all three Dark Souls games after a security vulnerability was found in Dark Souls 3, and Dark Souls 3 went dark again a few months later.

FromSoftware’s network trouble extends to its next game, too. The first network test for The Duskbloods ended early over “server issues,” and the studio this week delayed the Switch 2 exclusive to 2027.
