SEGA and RGG Studio have poured out a full character dossier for STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, the studio’s 50-year action-adventure saga still dated January 15, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, plus Game Pass, Gematsu reports.
Headline portrayals
Protagonist Makoto Daito is portrayed by Yu Shirota — half Japanese, half American, fleeing persecution in America for Japan and meeting merchant Orpheus (Snoop Dogg) and fellow traveler Yu Shinjo (Dean Fujioka) on the voyage. Orpheus is framed as a globe-trotting merchant with a flexible view of legality who recognizes Daito’s talent for music after finding him as a stowaway.
Other headliners in the new packet include singer Suzy Day (Tori Kelly), wartime Osaka diva Keiko Shirai (Ado), Amaru (Tupac Shakur), and The Veiled Stranger (Cordell Broadus). Legendary actor Bunta Sugawara portrays Genzo Iwaki, the big boss of Kure, with Takashi Ukaji on voice; Ukaji also portrays swaggering Kokura yakuza Tadashi Hataoka.
Supporting cast snapshot
Gematsu’s rundown also introduces Kokura merchant-boss Heigo Yashima, cafe waitress and yakuza mistress Tae Matsumoto (Moeka Hoshi), stylish authority figure Kiyoshi Otsuru (Tokuma Nishioka), gifted pianist and sworn brother Takashi (Satoshi Fujihara), craftsman Takeo Godai (Takaya Kuroda), sworn brother Suekichi (Kouhei Tsuji), Kure yakuza Tetsuya Hama (Yasukaze Motomiya), and easygoing Kamurocho nightclub worker Kimura (Daisuke Shiba).
Street reminder
Platforms and timing are unchanged in this character wire: January 15, 2027 across PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, with Game Pass availability called out alongside the Steam and Microsoft Store PC SKUs. The new material is the celebrity and RGG-pedigree cast bomb — not a date shift.
