Minecraft Dungeons II is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Mojang writer Per Landin said so in a Minecraft.net post published September 29, 2026. The action-RPG sequel puts heroes against an Illager High Council and sends them into a new dimension, the Sift.
Landin picks up after Minecraft Dungeons. Strange rifts started opening in unexpected places across the Overworld. Mobs became infused with strange energies, and sculk spread across large chunks of terrain. The post names who is behind it: the Illagers, led by a triumvirate Landin calls the Illager High Council — the Prime Enchanter, the Supreme Evoker, and the Grand Illusioner. That council has a new power and is launching coordinated attacks across the Overworld. Heroes are asked to stop them before they disrupt “the very balance of two worlds.”
Up to four players, online or on the couch
Mojang describes explosive encounters with menacing, never-before-seen foes and hordes that try to keep players from beating the council. You can go in alone or with up to four players in online or couch co-op. Along the way the game adds weapons, armor, enchants, talismans, and artifacts. Landin says there is no single correct build so long as the mix is yours.
The Sift, playable in Dungeons II
In this game the Sift is a previously unknown dimension: otherworldly environments, strange mobs, and mysteries, with beings that can be friendly or hostile. Illagers are already in that landscape, and the pitch is to unravel the Sift’s secrets and stop anyone trying to exploit it. Minecraft LIVE previewed the dimension before today’s launch. RCG’s Minecraft LIVE story is the write-up of Mojang’s separate plan to bring the Sift to Java and Bedrock in 2027. That main-game rollout is not this release. What is playable now is the Sift as a Minecraft Dungeons II location.
Day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass
Mojang’s launch post does not mention Game Pass. The day-one subscription listing is on Xbox Wire’s September 15 wave, written by Megan Spurr. That post dates Minecraft Dungeons II to September 29 on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, calls it available on day one, and tags cloud, console, handheld, and PC. Those are Xbox Game Pass labels. They do not put the game on a PlayStation or Nintendo subscription, and they do not replace the retail list Landin published, which also includes PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Xbox’s short blurb lines up with the launch pitch: gear up, head into the Sift, and fight unfamiliar threats beyond the rifts. For anyone buying or downloading today, the platforms Mojang names are Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2, with the Illager High Council and the Sift as the reasons to boot it up.
