Jason Jones, the Bungie co-founder who helped create Halo and directed Destiny, has opened Los Angeles studio Stone Kite with Beautiful Creatures author Margaret Stohl, according to Game Informer (October 1, 2026). Stohl’s credits also span film, TV, comics, and games, including work on Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate.
Stone Kite’s first project is One Zero One, a multimedia world set in a future where humanity faces rogue, AI-driven robotic soldiers. The launch is comics-first: Part One of a four-part limited comic series of the same name. One Zero One issue #1 debuts today and includes never-before-seen excerpts from Jones’s manuscript, Game Informer reports from the studio’s press materials.
Further comic issues are planned through early 2027. The press release also says the One Zero One world will expand with prose, audio, and screen projects throughout the year — a cross-medium approach Stohl frames as building with creators from different disciplines in the room from day one rather than starting in one format and adapting outward.
Jones, in the same materials, says he has long wanted to write beyond games and credits Stohl as the first person to believe he could write a book of his own and to help develop it into broader entertainment. Named One Zero One universe contributors in Game Informer’s report include screenwriter Eric Heisserer, writer Christina Strain, designer Kris Anka, and comic artists Dan Panosian, Ramón Pérez, Alitha Martinez, Raúl Allén, and Hyeonjin Kim.
